About

The Curious Thing was born from an aspiration to create more opportunities for grown-ups to learn about all kinds of fascinating topics in a sociable, relaxed and – above all – a really fun environment.

Classes are varied and diverse – covering everything from what’s inside a bee hive, to how to change a tyre, and what makes great poetry.

They’re hands on – whether that’s foraging for wild food, blending and roasting coffee, taking better photos or using power tools.

And they’re truly fascinating – insights into the world from people with a real passion for sharing their knowledge.

A social focus

As a social enterprise, all profit from The Curious Thing is donated or reinvested to achieve social change.

We believe passionately that learning is an intrinsically positive thing – not only for giving the brain something to chew on, but also in terms of meeting new people, sharing ideas and driving curiosity for the world around us.

The Curious Thing’s classes are as affordable as we can possibly make them, and we’ll always allow you to pick and choose classes one by one, rather than having to commit to a whole term.

However, we also reserve free spaces on every single one of our classes, which are given away totally free to people who couldn’t otherwise afford to attend. We’ll never ask intrusive personal questions about your circumstances – if you’d like to join a class but can’t afford it, please just get in touch.
